I hope you can find use of these web 2.0 tools I have been researching and using! I have organized my web 2.0 tools into two categories: Personal and Professional/Educational. I did this according to how I would utilize these tools. However, you could easily use some tools either personally or professionally/educationally.

Description: Share1t is an online file sharing tool. This site allows you to upload files of any format to share. You may upload any file up to 100MB per file. You can upload pictures, videos, documents, etc. The site is easy to navigate. There is a choose file button that you click to select your file. Share1t gives you three options. You can email, embed, or socially share your file. To email a file, you just enter the email address and select send. To embed a file, you receive a BBCode and a HTML code. To share socially, you may select a link to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and many other social networking sites.
Use: Taking pictures is a hobby of mine, so Share1t is very useful. The size of photos you can upload is quite large. This is a great place for me to share my videos and pictures with family and friends through multiple means. It’s also nice to get a code so quickly and easily to embed files.

There are over 16,000 videos on this site to help those who love to cook and those who are learning how to cook. The site has easy navigation and is organized by dishes, ingredients, and cusine. It offers a search engine at the top of the page for those with specific searches. The most visible part of the page is the center, which features the most popular searches. For new users, there is a space on the right hand side of the page explaining what cookblast is and how to use it.
Use: Well, I love to cook! Cookblast has tons of recipes. Better yet, you don’t just have to read the recipe off of a paper when cooking. You can watch tutorials that actually show you the cooking process. I love to try new things, and Cookblast gives me plenty of options with all types of dishes.

You can also manage all of your accounts, improve your credit score, and ask all of your unanswered credit questions.
Use: I am considering using this site to help keep up with accounts and learn more about credit. To improve your credit score, people may give different advice. It’s nice to have another source of information. For those who need help with credit, Creditable is great because most credit help sites charge monthly fees. I would definitely recommend this tool to family and friends.

You create your own page to let others know what you are raising money for. Then, you can share your page with others through Twitter, e-mail, and Facebook. Once others know about your GoFundMe page, they can contribute. This tool gives you freedom to raise money for things from a honeymoon to a battle with cancer.
Use: I loved the idea of this site when I came across it. People are raising money for things that are really important to them and to help others. This site has no limits, which is what I liked about it. They don’t take any percentage of your money. Donations go straight to your PayPal account. I could see myself using this site in the future to help out a worthy cause.

Description: Buzz is a site for people to find out the best places to go. Whether it be a great pizza place or the best shopping center, Buzz has all the answers. You can trust Buzz because the advice comes from those who have been to the places and have had personal experience there. You become friends with users on Buzz just as you would do on Twitter and Facebook. You can ask friends for suggestions or you can search and see ratings.
Use: I recently relocated to Columbia, SC. It is such a big area compared to Aiken. I don’t know where much is here either. The places I do know of may not be the best in the area. Buzz can help me find the best of the best based on people’s personal experiences. It shows a map as well so you can know how far away places are from your current location.

The site has these four options clearly available for users to access. Each craft idea has a video to show how to go about making the craft. The site’s goal is to improve children’s education online. They want to use this technology to prepare them for “tomorrow’s world”. This is a kid-safe site for children to explore.
Use: Since my major was early childhood education, Kidopo looked like something that could be helpful in the future. It’s kid-friendly and safe for children to use. The coloring pages are fun…even for me! It’s easy to use for adults and kids. I love crafts and integrating them into lessons, and the craft videos offered give great ideas and explanations.

Use: I would have loved MeeGenuis when I was a kid! Children love to listen to stories. The option that allows teachers/parents to integrate a child into the story is a real attention getter for a child. I would be able to use this in a classroom, and parents can easily use this at home as well.

Teachers often use this site by creating an online classroom to keep students and parents updated on assignments, due dates, and grades. The option to post discussions can help create an involved and creative learning community. Students can contact each other on this site to work together on projects, share ideas, or to help each other. One option students enjoy is connecting with friends outside of school through this site. Twiducate is a safe online environment outside of school. Only the students that a teacher allows may view classroom posts, which creates a much safer environment than many other social networking sites. This site also gives teachers and students a chance to improve their web 2.0 skills.
Use: I think Twiducate would be so cool to use with a classroom of upper elementary students. Technology is really advancing and giving young students a chance to interact with it is great! I love that is can be used as a communication tool for school and a social networking site for students. This can really help teachers keep in better contact with parents as well.

Description: Join.Me allows people to get together online without having to use the telephone or even email. It provides a live feed of your screen to who ever you want to share it with. Join.Me is a screen sharing web tool that is great for business meetings, approvals, etc. While sharing your screen, you can participate in a live chat or conference call through Join.Me. This site also provides a number you can call for assistance. However, Join.Me is easy to navigate and figure out!
Use: Join.Me caught my eye because I am starting on a group project in EDET 722. This tool could be helpful when working on documents together online. It could help our team work collaboratively. Working together online can be difficult, but when everyone can see the same thing, it makes things easier. I plan to use Join.Me throughout this semester and probably in future semesters as well.

Description: Flisti allows users to create free polls without having to sign up. All you have to do is enter your question and however many answers you would like. Then, Flisti generates your poll. Flisti updates you on the votes you receive. You can view the latest polls that other users have created. You can also look at the top polls that people are participating in. This site can be used for personal use for questions such as which products people prefer. It can also be used for research, in classrooms, or at the workplace.
Use: When I did a long-term substituting position in 2nd grade, the students would sign in each day in a poll. I think polls can be a great teaching technique. I will definitely use this site when I start teaching. The online polls can give students a chance to use technology in the classroom. Polls are great for teach comparison lessons in math!
