Cruisin' to the Bahamas

Process…
For this video project, I used my own photos that I took on a cruise to the Bahamas. First, I decreased the file size of my photos in Preview. I opened iMovie and imported the photos I wanted to use for this video. I added text to my first picture to create my title page. Then, I added my selected transition between each slide. I added a credits page at the end with text as well. To add audio, I used Aviary’s Myna. I selected a beginning, loop, and an ending that I thought flowed well with my video. After placing the pieces of music together, I saved the audio as an mp3 file and imported the file into iMovie. I exported my video as an .m4v file and then uploaded it to YouTube. Once the video was on YouTube, I copied the embed code to embed the video on my wikispace.

Challenges…
This is a hard one because I watched tutorials on iMovie before I started which made this process go very smoothly. I also did the two optional audio activities which gave me extra practice and experience. Something I did have trouble with was importing my photos into iMovie. Everytime I tried to drag a photo in, it was sent back. I kept getting a message to open a folder that is a “camera archive”. So, I created a folder with just the pictures I wanted to use, and that worked. Later on, I figured out I was just dragging the photos to the wrong section of iMovie. When I run into a problem, the solution seems like common sense when I figure it out! But, I guess that’s how we learn!!!

What I Learned…
Creating a video in iMovie was new to me. This program is user friendly and provided a great tutorial that is well organized. The whole process of creating this video taught me a lot about making sure things flow well together. The transitions and audio have to fit the video well to make an effective presentation. My class is going on a field trip next week to Country Adventures, and now that I have learned how to work with iMovie, I am going to create a video with audio of our trip for the kids to watch!
